1750-The South Carolina Gazette reports that a South Carolina slave named Caesar granted freedom.

The South Carolina Gazette reports that a South Carolina slave and medical practitioner named Caesar granted freedom and lifetime financial compensation for his antidotes for poison, rattle snake bite, and yaws.  Caesar and James Derham of New Orleans were the two earliest known African American medical practitioners.
